How does openarko handle my code and data?

Project indexes and session history are stored locally. When using third-party model services, relevant input and context are sent to the selected provider and may include code you supply or authorize openarko to access.

Does clicking “Remove Project” delete any files?

No. Removing a project only takes it off the active sidebar list; it will not delete or modify your source directory or saved session snapshots on disk.

How does openarko discover local skills?

Place standardized skill packages into ~/.agents/skills or ~/.codex/skills. openarko will discover and display them in the skills list upon startup.

Where are extensions stored physically, and how do they take effect?

openarko extension system uses a standardized local tiered storage layout:

Download Cache Directory (~/.openarko/cache/): Stores downloaded raw package archives (such as .tar.gz or .zip), providing SHA-256 integrity verification and offline self-healing capabilities;
Extracted Extensions Root (~/.openarko/extensions/): Aligned with the node_modules directory standard, each extension has an isolated folder containing a valid manifest.json (or extension.json) manifest and capability definitions;
Runtime Dynamic Loading & Unloading: Extension lifecycles are governed by a runtime state machine supporting dynamic loading (Load), dynamic unloading (Unload), toggling (Enable / Disable), and clean removal (Remove) without host process restarts, taking effect instantly without memory or listener leaks.

How do I start a conversation in openarko? Do I need to create a new session each time?

No. openarko prioritizes a natural, fluid conversational experience. The top item in the left navigation rail is “Assistant”—click it to immediately chat or delegate tasks without clicking any mandatory “New Session” button. Additionally, the bottom of the left rail serves as the unified “Space and User Control Center,” consolidating space switching, avatar identity, settings, and daemon status to keep the main workspace focused and uncluttered.

Why are there no public download or repository links? How can I join the preview?

openarko is currently in an early developer preview. We do not provide public source code repositories or installer downloads. Access is invite-only via private channels. Official application and contact channels are pending confirmation. Invited testers can sign in with Google to view their account. Public self-service signup is still not available.
